Before I let Beth take over this post, I want to introduce our new  segment, each month we’ll be taking a field trip to visit one one my retailers! Beth Tidwell will be conducting the interviews, she blogs at Farm Fresh vintage Finds! With out a doubt, The best part of my job is working with the people who sell DIY Paint! They are visionaries, creatives, and people with a heart for transformation. Their stores are some of the most unique places to visit across the US and Canada! So come along as we venture out to the shops,  we will be traveling to old barns in the south and  repurposed victorians in the midwest. First stop Muncie Indiana!

Today for our very first retailer spotlight we would like to introduce to “Refresh”. A beautiful shop located in Muncie, IN. Muncie is home of the Ball jar. Pretty cool, huh? The Hanna’s made this fun video about painted ball jars. Check it out!

Refresh is an adorable furniture shop with over 100 pieces of upcycled goodies owned by the Hanna family.

Proud DIY Paint retailers, the Hanna’s specialize in helping their clients love their tired old furniture again by recreating it with paint. They “like the idea helping people keep old furniture out of landfills and repurposing pieces to give them a new use and new life.”

1) When did you open your store/booth?

We opened Refresh in January of 2013.
2) What motivated you to open a store/booth?
Refresh was an existing business that offered painted furniture but the previous owner was not open consistently. We loved the concept so we purchased the name and existing inventory. We started selling paint 10 months after we opened and have taken the store in a little bit of a different direction than just strictly painted furniture. We like the idea of making old things new. We also like the idea of helping people keep old furniture out of landfills and repurposing pieces to give them a new use and new life. We like helping people learn how to paint furniture and help them save money by keeping the furniture they have and giving it a new look.
3) In your own words describe your store and tell us about the products you carry.
We are basically a HUGE painted furniture showroom with over 100 pieces to choose from. We offer all kinds of painted furniture, modern and vintage. We like to find unique pieces and transform them. Most of our pieces are solid wood, dovetailed, quality pieces. We also carry lots of unique home decor and gift items along with some work from a few select local artists. We carry Debi’s DIY paint along with all the supplies needed to finish any project.
4) What types of services do you offer your clientele?
We offer custom finishing for people who have a piece of their own that they love but would like refreshed. Along with refreshing furniture we are equipped to do a lot of different kinds of furniture repair. We also have a large inventory of unfinished furniture to allow customers to pick out a piece they want and pick the color. We offer several different classes from beginner painting classes to make and take craft classes. We also build custom pieces from pallets, architectural salvage, and reclaimed wood. We are very excited to be launching our “Ball Jar Bar” where customers can come in, paint a ball jar (or select one that is already painted) and then select custom embellishments and accessories to make a great gift for others or themselves.
5) Why did you decide to carry DIY Chalk Type Paint in your store/booth?
First and foremost we love Debi and were inspired by her creativity and YouTube videos. The paint is phenomenal and we love the creative finishing options. Beyond that the customer service and support for us as retailers is amazing.
6) What’s your favorite DIY Paint product?
We love the liquid patinas. They are so easy to apply and so much more durable than wax.
We are so happy to know a little more about the Hanna’s and “Refresh.” If you’re in the are of Muncie, IN drop in and check them out or visit them online here.
